Green Spain Route: Santiago de Compostela - Bilbao (6 days - 5 nights)

Departure dates from Santiago de Compostela, season 2025:

Route

Day 1 (Saturday) Santiago de Compostela–Viveiro

  • Reception at the Parador Nacional Reyes Católicos in Santiago de Compostela at 10:00 a.m.
  • Visit to Santiago in this Jacobean Holy Year, and lunch at a restaurant.
  • In the afternoon by bus we will arrive in Ferrol where the train will be waiting for us.
  • Presentation of the crew and accommodation. 
  • Visit to Viveiro, free time, dinner on board and overnight in Viveiro.

Day 2 (Sunday) Viveiro-Oviedo

  • While we have breakfast on board the train, it will arrive in Ribadeo, visit to Playa de las Catedrales, free time and lunch in a restaurant in Ribadeo.
  • In the afternoon the train takes us to the first Asturian settlement, Luarca, the 'White Town of the Green Coast'. Tour.
  • Dinner on board and overnight in Oviedo.

Day 3 (Monday) Oviedo-Llanes

  • After breakfast we will get on the bus to visit a typical Asturian cider house. Free time in Gijón.
  • Lunch at restaurant.
  • Visit and free time.
  • Late in the afternoon the train will set off for Llanes.
  • Dinner on board and overnight stay in LLanes.

Day 4 (Tuesday) Llanes – Cabezón de la Sal

  • After breakfast we will set out in our bus to the heart of the Picos de Europa, the Sanctuary of Covadonga.
  • Lunch at restaurant.
  • In the afternoon, we visit the village of Llanes, and then leave to go to the Cantabrian region. We have dinner on board and spend the night in Cabezón de la Sal.

Day 5 (Wednesday) Cabezón de La Sal–Santander

  • After breakfast we visit the Mediaeval Town of Santillana del Mar and the Neo-cave of Altamira.
  • While we eat on board, the train will arrive in Santander.
  • Visit, free time and dinner in a typical restaurant.
  • Overnight in Santander.

Day 6 (Thursday) Santander–Bilbao

  • During breakfast the train will head for Basque lands, arriving at the Biscayan capital, Bilbao.
  • Visit and lunch in a restaurant.
  • After lunch we will go back to the train to collect our luggage and say goodbye to the crew.
